World Book Day-What is Joy of Reading???

 

Our buddies at UNESCO concur that most people adore reading. World Book Day was created by the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organisation to honour the pleasure of leisure reading. Why not? One hundred nations celebrate World Book Day.

Children who read for pleasure on a regular basis outperform their non-reading peers in test scores, vocabulary growth, general knowledge, and cultural awareness. Reading is a passport to this world and a lot of other worlds, whether you read classic paperbound books or use your Kindle, iPad, or other device. On april 23, World Book Day, we celebrate the joy of reading. It's a day to honour the gift of reading, so visit the library or simply curl up on the sofa and be a reader! UNESCO established World Book and Copyright Day in 1995. Every year on april 23, it is commemorated to honour notable writers including Miguel de Cervantes, William Shakespeare, and Inca Garcilaso de la Vega.
