According to sources, the Centre has ordered twitter and YouTube to remove links to a BBC documentary about the 2002 gujarat riots and prime minister Narendra Modi. Following these directives, the microblogging and video-sharing websites have prohibited all tweets and YouTube videos related to the documentary "India: The Modi Question."

The two social media juggernauts reportedly received a directive from the I&B ministry to prohibit the first instalment of the BBC programme. This comes a day after british prime minister Rishi Sunak stated he "doesn't agree with the depiction" of his indian counterpart in the UK's parliament by mp of Pakistani descent Imran Hussain and abstained from watching the documentary series.
Additionally, the I&B ministry requested twitter to delete roughly 50 tweets about the BBC documentary. It was described as "nefarious" india referred to the film as "propaganda" and said it lacked objectivity. The veterans believed that the video reflected a colonial mindset.
