International Children's Missing Day is celebrated across the world on 25th May in memory of missing children. Every year around 65000 children go missing in India. Year after year, such incidents are increasing continuously. 


65000 children go missing every year

If we look at the figures of the last five years, more than 326290 cases of missing children have been reported. On an average, about 65,000 children go missing every year. Statistics show that the cases are increasing year after year. Where 63,407 cases were reported in the year 2016, which increased to 73,138 in the year 2019. 


Madhya Pradesh, West bengal, bihar and delhi most unsafe for children

Madhya Pradesh is at number one among the 10 most dangerous states of the country for your children, where a total of 14553 children have gone missing. West bengal (14071) comes on the second number. After this, bihar (12064) and delhi (10658) are included in the states where more than ten thousand cases are pending. More than 50 percent of the country's cases come from only 5 states. 

The safest states and union territories for the children of the country

At the same time, there are some states and union territories of the country where the number of such incidents is less than 100. In Mizoram and Lakshadweep, there is no case of child loss in the year 2020 and no previous case is pending. Generally, the incidents of missing children are very less in the northeastern india of the country except assam in the rest of the states.

Where do girls go missing?

Of the missing children across the country, three out of four are daughters. At the same time, in many states, this ratio is much higher than the national average. Madhya Pradesh, West bengal, bihar and Orissa, this ratio increases to 1:4, that is, four girls are lost in every 5 children.
