Nobel Peace prize laureate Malala Yousafzai has become a household name. Announced her marriage to partner Assar via social media.


Here are some important things to know about Malala ... 

Malala Yousafzai was born on July 12, 1997, in the Swat Valley, a mountainous country in Pakistan. 


In october 2007, Taliban militants captured the valley. It imposed restrictions on the education of girls, among many other restrictions. They started an oppressive regime banning education. 

With this ... Malala was shocked. She began writing an anonymous blog on the media, describing the events that unfolded there. 

In 2012, at the age of 15, a Taliban gunman shot Malala in the head for speaking out for girls' education and rights. She was critically injured in the attack and survived after receiving treatment in the UK, where she sought refuge.

Malala Yousafzai, a global advocate on girls' rights and education, won the 2014 Nobel Peace Prize. She holds the record for being the youngest person to receive this award. 

In her speech, she spoke about the need and importance of educating children around the world. She said that every child should go to school and continue her struggle till then. 

Her speech was immensely appreciated by the audience who attended the ceremony in Oslo. She was given a standing ovation. 

Interestingly, Malala hosted the Peace prize along with Kailash Satyarthi from India. In her Nobel speech, she said, I am very happy to show the world that we can stand together and work together for the rights of children, an Indian, a Pakistani peacemaker.

Malala Yousafzai delivered a passionate speech on gender equality at the United Nations Headquarters on July 12, 2013. 

Malala Yousafzai, in her powerful speech, pointed out that terrorists are afraid of education. He stressed that women should be independent so that they can fight for themselves. 

Her speech was once again lauded on a large scale, with the United Nations declaring her birthday 'Malala Day'.

Malala, now 24, was married in Birmingham in the presence of family and friends. She announced the news of her wedding through social media. 

"Assar I tied the knot to become spouses. We celebrated a small nikkah ceremony with our families at home in Birmingham. Please give us your blessings. We are happily starting our journey to walk together for the rest of our lives," she wrote on Instagram.
