The last days of King Maker Kamarajar!
Kamarajar accepted Nehru's invitation and entered national politics. He became the President of the All india congress in 1964. After Nehru's demise in a testing environment, he elected lal bahadur shastri and indira gandhi twice as prime minister after his demise and became an influential leader in national politics.
Congress lost power in tamil Nadu due to the 1967 election defeat. He introduced the political civilization with the generosity that he would not criticize the newly elected DMK regime for six months. It was unfortunate that Kamaraj had to be on one side and indira gandhi on the other. Due to that split, the strength of the national forces in tamil Nadu suffered a setback.
The last time Kamaraj met after 1967 was in the 1971 elections. In the absence of the expected victory in that election, he continued to actively engage in efforts to strengthen the founding congress party. Facing the DMK as a political party, Kamaraj could not wholeheartedly accept the support of the people of tamil Nadu for the AIADMK.
In such a political environment (in 1975), Kamaraj contracted a severe fever. He simply celebrated his 73rd birthday. Kamaraj was found to be in poor health for some time. He avoided attending public events. However, on october 1, Shivaji's birthday, he went to his house nearby and returned to wish him a happy birthday.
The next day, october 2, was Gandhi's birthday by default. He was talking to those who came to meet him that morning. At 1.30 pm he ate as usual and went to bed. At around 3.05 pm the patient was sweating all over. Kamaraj called his assistant Vairavan and told him to call the doctors. Immediately, Dr Saurirajan and Dr Jayaraman were informed over the phone. Later, when Vairajan left the room, wiping his body with a blanket as he was chilled, Kamaraj told him to wake himself up if the doctors came and said, "Turn off the light."
Doctor Saurirajan Kamaraj, who arrived at 3.15 pm, was urgently examining his condition and cried out, "Aw ... big man, have you left us?" Subsequent doctors examined the body of AL annamalai and Jayaraman and confirmed that he had died. Immediately, Dr annamalai telephoned governor KK Shaw and then chief minister M. Karunanidhi. chief minister m. karunanidhi rushed to the spot as soon as he heard the news of Kamaraj's disappearance. When shivaji Ganesan entered the house and cried out in grief, m. karunanidhi hugged him and comforted him.
Until doctors arrived, no one knew Kamaraj's life was over. The reason was that he could not see any difference in the look or data-face he was lying on. His data-face looked like he was sleeping soundly.
Kamaraj's body was brought to the Rajaji Mandapam in a special vehicle at 5.30 pm and the next day at 3.00 pm it was decided to be taken in procession from the Rajaji Mandapam to the gandhi Mandapam on the Mount Road, Marmalong Bridge that day and cremated on the left side of it. m. karunanidhi had selected this place and made arrangements for the cremation in consultation with the congress leaders.
Outside the Rajaji Mandapam, a large crowd gathered like a sea to pay homage to the late great leader. The police were unable to cope with the crowd. Kamaraj's body was wrapped in a tricolour national flag. Thousands of people screamed as they saw Kamaraj's body in a cannon. Departing from Rajaji Mandapam, the funeral procession took three hours to reach gandhi Mandapam. Kamaraj's cremation took place on october 3, at 6.35 pm with full military honours. The cannons fired three times before setting fire to the wreckage. When Kamaraj's younger sister Nagammal's grandson Kanagavel was set on fire, nearby Congressmen burst into tears. "Long live amar Kamaraj!" The slogan split the sky. At the funeral, the then prime minister indira gandhi attended with troubled eyes.
An influential political leader in tamil Nadu and national politics, Kamaraj followed the mantra of honesty, simplicity and purity. Following Gandhi's principles, which emphadata-sized all this, he disappeared on his birthday and mingled with him twice. It is pertinent to say that one of the last pillars of gandhi was tilted. He never added any property to himself in his lifetime. But Kamaraj is proud to have ruled and laid the foundation for the development of modern tamil Nadu and that is why the great leader Kamaraj is still revered today.
