Solar storms are undoubtedly one of the most stunning natural phenomena that may be observed. However, according to a recent study, the next solar storm that hits Earth may damage infrastructure and create a 'cyber apocalypse.' The internet shutdown is expected to endure many months.
Sangeetha Abdu jyothi of the university of California, Irvine, and VMware Research performed the study. Her research was presented at the SIGCOMM 2021 conference on data communication.

She also cautioned that if another solar storm hits the Earth, we are unprepared to deal with the repercussions.
