Open Primary Schools Suggests ICMR After Conducting 4th Sero Survey

Following the 4th Sero survey, the ICMR recommends that elementary schools be reopened to children. Will parents, on the other hand, send their children to school? In May of last year, the first countrywide Sero survey was done, and it was discovered that only around 1% of those tested had antibodies against the new coronavirus. Between june and July, the ICMR performed its fourth and most recent countrywide antibody survey, allegedly in the same 70 districts across 21 states as the previous three rounds. The fourth round had a total sample data-size of 28,975 individuals.
More than a quarter of those examined had recovered from Covid-19, according to the poll. Herd immunity may be impossible to achieve due to the emergence of new strains that might induce reinfections. The potential of any strain to overcome vaccination antibodies might make attaining herd immunity difficult.
SARS-CoV-2 infection was found in two-thirds of the general population over the age of six. Antibodies were absent in a third of the population. According to the Director-General of the ICMR, the country's 40 crore population is still susceptible.

Antibody testing is mostly done in india using the RT-PCR or rapid antigen test (RAT), for which health professionals take an oral and nasal swab sample. The result can be interpreted as reactive,' indicating the presence of IgG antibodies, or 'non-reactive,' indicating the absence of antibodies. IgG immunoglobulins make up around 70-80percent of the total of the immunoglobulins in the blood, and they are "the foundation of long-term defence against pathogens."
According to reports, the fourth Sero survey discovered antibodies in 62.3 percent of individuals who had not been vaccinated and 81 percent of those who had received one dose. Antibodies were found in 89.8% of patients who had received both injections.
