A major accident took place on Saturday, september 14, on SN Banerjee Road in Kolkata. Two people were injured in the explosion at the junction of Blochman Street and SN Banerjee Road. These include a woman. The injured were immediately rushed to NRS Medical college and Hospital, where they are undergoing treatment.
The area was sealed, bomb squad deployed
Immediately after receiving the information about the explosion, the Talatala police station was informed, and the police reached the spot and made tight security arrangements. The entire area has been cordoned off with security tape, so that the general public is not allowed to go close to the spot. Apart from this, the bomb squad has also been called, which will ensure that no other explosive material is present there. According to sources, the injured woman is said to be a garbage picker. Although the cause of the explosion is not yet clear, the police and other investigating agencies have started investigating it.
Kolkata police said, "At around 13.45 hrs, information was received that an incident of explosion took place at the ex-ing of Blochman st and SN Banerjee Road and a garbage picker was injured. After this, OC Taltala went there and found that the injured was taken to NRS Hospital and he had suffered an injury on his right wrist. The area was cordoned off with security tape and then the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) team was called. After this, BDDS personnel reached and checked the bag and the surrounding area. After their approval, traffic was allowed.
