Srilankan Police Officer assaults Tamil youngsters...?

A traffic police officer has been arrested in sri lanka for inhumanely assaulting two adolescents in a public location, according to a police official.


The police officer in question has been suspended, according to minister Sarath Weerasekara. A video of a police officer abusing two adolescents in the Eravur neighbourhood of the Batticaloa district was widely circulated on social media. 

TNA mp Ra posted the footage, and on his twitter page, chanakya stated that police chaos continues in Batticaloa. He also made a mental note to ask Rear Admiral Sarath Weerasekara if this was going to be heard.


The police have launched an assault on the youth.

Sarath Veerasekara is the minister of Public Security, and the police Department is under his jurisdiction.


Following this, minister Sarath Weerasekara spoke out about the event yesterday, saying that the police have no jurisdiction to attack citizens and that the police's job is to execute the law. 

He also stated that he has directed the Eastern Province's Inspector General of police and Senior Deputy Inspector General of police to investigate the event. 


In this event, two tamil youngsters from the Eravur region were assaulted. According to the footage, the attack was carried out by a police officer assigned to the Eravur police station's traffic unit.


The Attack's Background


The minister of Public Safety stated that an accident had occurred in the region and that while the police were measuring and pinpointing the location of the accident, two adolescents on motorcycles had crossed the area very quickly.

The minister further stated that despite being caught on their motorcycles, the adolescents continued to ride them without stopping. 


Following that, the minister stated that the police officers had chased and arrested the boys and that they had no right to do so. The police officer who was detained was brought before the Eravur Tourism Magistrate and given a bail of Rs. 1 lakh
