Billionaire financier Thomas Lee found dead?

One of the founders of leveraged buyouts and private equity investments was Thomas Haskell Lee. He was discovered dead on thursday morning in the New York, US, headquarters of his investment company. Thomas Lee had an estimated $2 billion in wealth (over Rs 16,500 crore).

The 78-year-old billionaire's cause of death has not been determined. 

Lee's family did not address it in their official statement, but US media outlets, citing police sources, claimed that he died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Lee was a highly experienced financier and trader who had made over $15 billion in numerous transactions over the course of almost five decades. He established Thomas H Lee Partners in 1974, and he served as its chairman and CEO. He established Lee Equity in 2006.

Lee participated in the purchase and following sales of well-known brands on a global scale, such as Warner music and Snapple Beverages. 

He was also a well-known patron of the arts and society. Along with being a successful investor, he served on the boards of Brandeis University, Harvard University, the Museum of Jewish Heritage, the Museum of Modern Art, and Lincoln Center.

He had two wives: his longstanding second wife Ann Tenenbaum and the well-known philanthropist Barbara Fish. Bill Clinton, a past US president, and Hillary Clinton, a former presidential candidate, were friends with Lee.
