– chief minister M.K. Stalin’s Strong Criticism

Tamil Nadu chief minister M.K. Stalin launched a sharp attack on the AIADMK and its leader Edappadi K. Palaniswami (EPS), accusing the party of failing to oppose the removal of Mahatma Gandhi’s name from a government-related initiative or institution. Expressing deep disappointment, stalin questioned whether the AIADMK had even the courage or moral responsibility to object to such a move.

Questioning AIADMK’s Silence

Speaking at a public event, the chief minister said that Mahatma gandhi is not just a historical figure but the symbol of India’s freedom struggle, non-violence, and moral values. He argued that removing Gandhi’s name undermines the nation’s legacy and disrespects the sacrifices made during the freedom movement.

Stalin questioned the AIADMK’s silence on the issue, asking whether the party was hesitant to oppose the decision due to political pressure or alliance compulsions. “Is the AIADMK even reluctant to raise its voice when Gandhi’s name is removed?” he asked.

Accusation of Political Betrayal

Taking his criticism further, stalin accused Edappadi Palaniswami of committing “open betrayal” while publicly projecting loyalty to traditional values. Using strong language, he said that EPS was “wearing the green shawl while engaging in green betrayal,” implying deception and a lack of sincerity in political conduct.

According to stalin, such actions reveal a contradiction between what the opposition leader claims to stand for and what he actually practices in politics.

DMK’s Stand on Gandhian Values

The chief minister reaffirmed that the DMK firmly upholds Gandhian principles, including social justice, equality, and non-violence. He stressed that respecting Gandhi’s name and legacy is not about party politics, but about protecting national values and historical truth.

Stalin added that the DMK would continue to oppose any attempts to dilute or erase the contributions of freedom fighters, regardless of political consequences.

Call for Moral Responsibility in Politics

Stalin urged political parties to rise above narrow interests and show moral courage when national icons and historical legacies are at stake. He warned that remaining silent on such issues amounts to complicity.

His remarks were seen as a direct challenge to the AIADMK leadership to clarify its position and demonstrate whether it truly respects India’s freedom movement and its leaders.

Conclusion

By questioning the AIADMK’s reluctance to oppose the removal of mahatma Gandhi’s name and accusing Edappadi Palaniswami of political betrayal, chief minister M.K. stalin delivered a scathing critique of the opposition. His comments reinforced the DMK’s position that protecting the legacy of national leaders like gandhi is a moral duty, not a political option, and that silence in such matters is unacceptable.
