Haryana-Punjab agree to resolve Sutlej-Yamuna Link Canal dispute!!

Jal Shakti:  The SYL canal, built decades ago for water sharing between punjab and haryana, has been the center of legal and political dispute for years. A consensus has been reached between the two states in a meeting held in the Union Jal shakti Ministry to discuss the interstate water dispute.

Union Jal shakti minister CR Patil said that punjab and haryana have agreed to resolve the Sutlej-Yamuna Link Canal dispute. Both sides are ready to move forward with a solution approach. The Jal shakti minister made this claim after a meeting held in the Union Jal shakti Ministry to discuss the interstate water dispute. Senior officials of both states, including punjab Chief minister Bhagwant Mann and haryana CM Nayab Singh Khattar, attended the meeting.


Jal shakti minister CR Patil said that the ministry will provide full cooperation to both states for equitable and better management of water resources. He wrote on twitter that an important meeting was held in delhi on issues related to the Sutlej-Yamuna Link Canal. The Jal shakti Ministry of the government of india is committed to assisting both states in finding a balanced solution. All parties in the meeting held open talks and agreed to move forward with a solution-oriented approach.

The SYL canal, built decades ago for water sharing between punjab and haryana, has been the center of legal and political dispute for years. Officials said that further discussions will be held at the technical level. Both states are willing to continue the talks under the guidance of the Center. Now the next meeting will be held in August, where the discussion will be taken forward.
