Due to continuous rain in the state of texas, located in the south central region of America, the Guadalupe River suddenly flooded on friday (July 04, 2025). 24 people died due to this sudden flood. The rescue team rescued many victims trapped in the flood. According to a Reuters report, officials said that 23 to 25 people living in an all-girls Christian summer camp on the banks of Guadalupe have been caught in this flood and are still missing.

Speaking to reporters late friday night, 18 hours after the incident, texas Governor Greg abbott said that relief work is going on to save people. We have no shortage of resources. At the same time, regarding this disaster, US President Donald Trump said that we will take care of them and are ready to help fully. At the same time, the US National Weather Department has declared an emergency over flooding near the south-central texas Hill Country, about 65 miles (105 km) northwest of San Antonio.

Sudden rain took the form of flood

W Nim Kidd, director of the texas Division of Emergency Management, said in a news conference on friday (July 04, 2025) night that sudden torrential rains caused flooding, so it could not be predicted by radar. Flood conditions were created in less than two hours.

Nim Kidd said that state emergency management officials had warned on thursday itself that there was a risk of heavy rain and flash floods in West and Central texas in the next few days, but the rain we saw was not predicted.

Deaths of 24 people affected by floods confirmed

Kerr County Sheriff Larry Leatha said in a briefing on friday that 24 deaths affected by the flood have been confirmed, while 13 deaths were reported earlier in the day. Leatha said another man found dead in neighboring Kendall County has not been confirmed as a flood-related death.

On friday night, texas Governor abbott signed a disaster declaration to direct emergency aid to Kerr and other areas hardest hit by the flooding. U.S. Coast Guard and Federal Emergency Management Agency personnel have also been activated to assist local authorities in responding to the disaster, officials said.
