"The height of disaster!" Death toll exceeds 1600..!?
A few days ago, the worst earthquake in Myanmar's history struck. It was felt not only in Myanmar but also in thailand and the northeastern states of India. A 7.7 magnitude earthquake struck north-west of Sagaing, Myanmar at 12:50 pm last Friday. The earthquake occurred at a depth of 10 km in the Sagaing region. A few minutes later, another earthquake measuring 6.7 on the Richter scale struck. The aftermath of this earthquake was devastating. The two strong earthquakes were followed by smaller aftershocks.
India was one of the first countries to announce assistance after receiving the news of the Myanmar earthquake. Expressing concern about the earthquake, indian Prime minister Modi said that he was ready to provide the necessary assistance. In this regard, he said, "I was saddened to hear the news of the earthquake in Myanmar and Thailand. We pray for the safety and well-being of everyone. india is also ready to provide the necessary assistance." The indian air Force has already sent 15 tonnes of relief materials, including tents, blankets, water purifiers, and essential medicines, from its Hindon air base to help Myanmar. Under the 'Operation Brahma' program, india is also sending a team of 80 National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) personnel to Myanmar to help in relief and rescue operations.
