Do You Know Sampuran Singh? The Only Person In India To Own A Train

SIBY JEYYA
Has the idea of someone owning a train ever crossed your mind? Although the indian government owns the railways, a person temporarily held ownership of the entire train due to an error made by the railways. This occurred with a legitimate seal and was neither fraudulent nor fake. This individual became the proprietor of the entire train as a result of a railway error.
Sampuran Singh is the individual in question. An entire train was acquired by a poor farmer from Katana village near ludhiana, Punjab.  But this possession was short-lived—just a few hours.  For a few hours, the Delhi-Amritsar Swarna Shatabdi Express, a train that runs between delhi and amritsar, was the owner of a farmer. Actually, in order to build the Ludhiana-Chandigarh railway line, the railroads purchased farmers' land in 2007. Sampuran Singh paid Rs 25 lakh per acre for his land, which was located in the center of the railway line.

What Actually Happened?
After a few days, things became more problematic when Sampuran Singh learned that the railway had paid Rs 71 lakh per acre for the same amount of land in a nearby village. Sampuran Singh went to court to protest the railway's unfair treatment of him.  The compensation amount was raised from Rs 25 lakh to Rs 50 lakh by the court during the hearing, and it was eventually raised to Rs 1.47 crore.

Mistake By Railways
The court mandated that North Railway reimburse Sampuran Singh for this sum by 2015.  However, the railway failed to pay Rs 1.05 crore and only paid Rs 42 lakh.  District and Sessions Judge Jaspal Verma ordered the train to be seized at the ludhiana station in 2017 after the railway refused to pay the compensation money despite the court's ruling.  The confiscation of the station master's office was also mandated.  Following the court's directive, farmer Sampooran Singh arrived at the station, seized the amritsar Swarn Shatabdi Express train that was there at the time, and took ownership of it. However, in a few minutes, the section engineer got the train released with the help of a court official. According to reports, this matter is still pending in the court.
