Doctors Shocked as Pune Woman Gets Breast Milk Without Getting Pregnant

SIBY JEYYA
This instance is peculiar. In Pune, a woman began to produce milk from her breasts despite not being pregnant or having a child. At first, the doctor was taken aback when the woman came to see him. When questioned, the woman disclosed that she had a neck ache and had grudgingly had her neck massaged.

Even though an orthopedic specialist performed this, nobody anticipated that it would result in milk secretion. But the physician looked closely into the causes.
The woman was on gas medication.
"Who would think that neck pain could lead to milk flowing from the breasts?" asked Dr. Pranjali Gadgil, a breast surgeon at Jupiter Hospital in Pune, according to a TOI story. The patient reluctantly acknowledged that she was taking medicine for her neck discomfort when I inquired, and she handed me the prescription. Among them was Pantoprazole-Domperidone (Pan D), which is frequently used to treat acid reflux and gastritis.

Domperidone raises the prolactin hormone, which might result in the breasts secreting milk, according to Dr. Pranjali Gadgil. In medical terminology, this ailment is known as galactorrhea.
This is a very rare occurrence and it happens for one in a lakh women.
