After only five months of marriage, a UX designer from Gurgram claims that his estranged wife has falsely accused him of crimes. Alok Mittal went on to say that his wife, who receives a respectable salary, has asked for a house, Rs 1.5 lakh a month in maintenance, and Rs 1 crore in compensation.
In a LinkedIn article detailing his experience, Mittal also stated that his wife had asked him to remove his posts critical of her, threatening to take legal action again if he didn't comply.
Mittal said on LinkedIn, "Now, if anything happens to me, I want to make it clear who will be responsible," including his in-laws and his wife, who is an analyst at Collegedunia.
What Has Happened?
Mittal, who wed his bride in delhi in May 2023, disclosed that he was let off not long after the wedding. The couple soon discovered they were expecting their first child. His wife therefore put pressure on him to get a new job.
He looked for a job for five months until finding one in Bengaluru in november 2023. He requested his wife to go to the city with him, but she apparently declined, stating that she had a health issue, and instead stayed with her parents.
"When I went to delhi in december 2023 to pick her up, she said she would come back later, but she refused. She exploited her pregnancy and delivery as an excuse to stay at her parents' house, even after I promised to comply with her wishes," Mittal said.
Mittal added that after initially encouraging him to find employment "anywhere in the world," his wife put pressure on him to resign from his Bengaluru job and go back home with her family.
"After much persuasion, I finally consented to go back to Delhi. My wife, however, wanted it quickly. He added that his in-laws had grown more hostile at this time, "so, knowing my son was my weakness, began using him against me."
Mittal continued by saying that his wife would always create excuses when he tried to video call his kid. "She refused to let me video contact my kid because she said he was asleep. Her relatives accused me of leaving her and my child if I didn't phone or visit her in delhi," he clarified.
According to Mittal, his wife turned down his request to temporarily go to Bengaluru. Shortly thereafter, he claimed, she falsely accused him of domestic abuse.
Mittal disclosed that his 73-year-old widowed mother had also been implicated in these unfounded charges. "I borrowed money from friends and relatives to pay for a wedding that lasted less than six months after using up all of my wages. And now, where can I get ₹1 crore to correct this catastrophic error?" he said.
'Justice delayed is a life destroyed'
Justice postponed is justice destroyed, according to the UX designer who claimed his wife had harassed him. Additionally, he revealed a phone tape from their pre-marriage conversation in which she mentioned taking their honeymoon to Europe.
"My wife demanded a honeymoon in Europe, a bigger banquet hall, and a designer Lehenga-just one week after our Roka ceremony," Mittal said, inquiring, "How can such demands not be considered part of dowry?"
"Why are men not educated about these biased laws?" he asked further. Why aren't these topics the subject of any documentaries or movies? before saying, "We guys are frequently seen of as little more than wallets to cover settlements, alimony, or maintenance. However, we are more than that; we have hearts and souls, and it is heartbreaking to witness them being so readily ripped apart."
