CM Atishi inaugurates 68th National School Games!

delhi chief minister Atishi on monday inaugurated the 68th National school Games and emphadata-sized the role of sports in promoting unity and patriotism. He said that sports bring people together and instill a sense of national pride. The sports Branch of the Directorate of Education, delhi is hosting the 68th National school Games 2024-25 in 11 different sports. 43 units, including states and union territories, have participated in the event. The games are divided into three phases, the first phase will start on monday and will last for a month.

Addressing the event at the Thyagaraj Stadium, Atishi recalled the moment when Neeraj Chopra won the gold medal in javelin throw at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. He said, "When the national flag was hoisted and the national anthem was played, I don't think there was any indian whose eyes did not shed tears."

Atishi said, "Sports is a field that connects people across the country and promotes unity and patriotism." Expressing hope about the young players present, the chief minister said that he is confident that many of the children participating in various events here will win gold medals in the Olympics. During this, Atishi also underlined the efforts of the delhi government.

Young players will be provided assistance in sports

Atishi said, "In the last 10 years, we have equipped the government schools of delhi with international level facilities, including three hockey grounds, football grounds, 25 swimming pools and 42 synthetic tracks." The chief minister also told about the government's plans to promote sports among the youth. He said that the delhi government provides assistance to children up to the age of 17 through various initiatives. He said, our Mission Excellence program provides financial assistance of up to Rs 16 lakh to young sportspersons, which benefited more than 400 students between 2018 and 2022.
