According to a report made by the victim's sister, a 33-year-old businesswoman's suicide was committed by an officer of the criminal Investigation Department (CID) squad.

Her sister reported CID deputy superintendent of police Kanakalakshmi to the Banashankari police.

According to TOI, she stated: "The high court had ordered police to interview jeeva by videoconference from november 14 to november 23. On november 14, jeeva went to the CID headquarters after police ordered her to appear before DSP Kanakalakshmi. Kanakalakshmi undressed her that day, claiming that the victim could have concealed cyanide under her clothing.
According to the report, the victim's sister said that Kanakalakshmi took her to her wood material store in Peenya for a spot investigation, where the dead were humiliated in front of everyone. She went on to say that even after the entrepreneur gave Kanakalakshmi all the necessary paperwork, the latter continued to demand Rs 25 lakh from her. Kanaklakshni is currently facing charges under the Prevention of Corruption Act and abetment to suicide. According to the article, the officer has not yet responded to the accusations.
