Sudha Subbiah

By-elections are to be held on 9 assembly seats of Uttar Pradesh on november 20. The by-elections to be held in UP are being seen as the semi-finals of the 2027 assembly elections. Although the results of these by-elections will not affect the health of the government, but the whole game is of political perception. In the 2024 lok sabha elections, the seats of bjp in Uttar Pradesh were reduced very much, due to which bjp has failed to touch the majority figure alone.

This is the first election being held in UP after the 2024 election results, which the ruling party bjp in UP and the main opposition party Samajwadi party have linked to their prestige. Both the parties are putting all their strength to win as many seats as possible in the by-elections. yogi adityanath himself has taken charge from the bjp side, while Akhilesh is busy in the election campaign from the SP side. Both the leaders understand very well that the results of the by-elections will decide their political future.

Out of the 9 seats in UP where assembly by-elections are going to be held, bjp and its allies had won 5 seats in the 2022 general assembly elections. While Samajwadi party had won 4 assembly seats. Although Meerapur seat was won by RLD in alliance with SP, but now RLD has formed an alliance with BJP.

Who occupied which seat?

In the year 2022, nda had waved the flag of victory in Majhawan, Phulpur, Khair, ghaziabad and Meerapur assembly seats of the state. On the other hand, Samajwadi party had won Katehari, Sisamau, Karhal and Kundarki assembly seats. This time also bjp and SP are data-face to data-face on all these 9 seats.
