The recent incident involving amrita Singh, a Canadian woman allegedly linked to pro-Hindu nationalist ideologies, has taken the internet by storm. Caught on CCTV, Singh was filmed brazenly stealing candies meant for children celebrating Halloween from various neighborhood porches. Halloween is a holiday associated with trick-or-treating, where kids joyfully collect candies, a time-honored tradition in many Western countries.

Singh’s alleged actions, however, disrupted the fun for many children as she reportedly emptied entire bowls of candy meant to bring joy to the young participants. Beyond the playful disappointment for the children, her actions triggered a wave of reactions on social media, with many questioning her motives and critiquing her disregard for community etiquette.
But it wasn’t only the candy that Singh reportedly took. The CCTV footage reveals her tampering with and even taking decorative items from people's homes. This theft of Halloween decorations like lights and outdoor setups further angered locals, as such items often have sentimental value and enhance the festive atmosphere of the neighborhood. Her actions not only showed a lack of respect for the holiday but also for the community’s spirit of togetherness, as such festive displays are often meant to be enjoyed by everyone in the vicinity. This additional layer of vandalism created a more profound sense of invasion, as it’s unusual for someone to steal decorative setups, which are typically safe even in public view.
