Minor Séx Case against OTT's Most Vulgar Show

SIBY JEYYA
A complaint alleging that producer Ekta Kapoor and her mother Shobha Kapoor shot inappropriate sequences with a young girl for their racy series Gandi Baat has led to their prosecution under the POCSO Act. There are currently six seasons of the OTT series. The makers of the over-the-top (OTT) platform ALT balaji were sued, claiming graphic scenes with young girls from a Season 6 episode that was aired from february to april 2021.

Unfortunately, the app does not yet allow you to view this contentious episode. The lawsuit claims that the series disrespected saints and other holy people by employing cigarette commercials, which upset the complainant emotionally. Additionally, it claims that several scenes went under POCSO Act guidelines. According to the lawsuit, there is a possibility that the content violates many laws, such as the women Prohibition Act of 1986, the Information technology Act of 2000, and the cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act of 2003.

On september 27, 2024, the madras High Court's earlier decision that viewing, disseminating, or downloading pornographic material featuring children was not criminally punishable was overturned by the supreme Court. With six seasons aired since its 2018 premiere and directed by Sachin Mohite, Gandi Baat has gained notoriety for its daring moments. While the authorities are looking into the situation, Alt balaji Telefilm has not yet released a statement.
