Box Office - Devara Joins Stree 2
In Q3 2024, the cinema industry saw a decline, particularly in hindi, with a string of underwhelming films punctuated by just one big smash. Thanks to good word of mouth, karan Johar's action film Kill, which debuted in the quarter with an estimated earnings of Rs 25 crore and starred an ensemble of non-stars, was considered an average success.
Subsequently, Sarfira, which starred Akshay Kumar, was a box office failure, earning just Rs 22.50 crore, mostly because people weren't like remakes. With a total of Rs 63.25 crore, Bad Newz—starring vicky kaushal and Triptii Dimri—performed mediocrely. Its trend was less spectacular following a great beginning. This was helped by the film's well-known music.

Khel Khel Mein failed at Rs 43 crore, Vedaa was a failure, making less than Rs 25 crore, and stree 2 became an all-time hit with Rs 585 crore.
The Buckingham Murders and Yudhra, which both failed to draw spectators and barely made Rs 10.50 crore and Rs 10 crore, respectively, were more disappointments. Devara is expected to end at about Rs 60 crore, making it yet another film with above-average earnings. With the exception of stree 2's triumph, the hindi film industry's Q3 performance was unremarkable overall, raising hopes for Q4 and future releases.
