monday marked the first significant test for Vijay's greatest hit at the box office, following an almost flawless four days of release. Over four days, from thursday to Sunday, the venkat Prabhu-directed film took in a staggering Rs 288 crore worldwide and Rs 137 crore at home. On monday, however, the movie had its worst decline since its premiere, falling over 58.5% to earn about Rs 14 crore.
At almost Rs 151 crore, the domestic box office collection has surpassed the Rs 150 crore club. As usual, the first monday after the release of a high-profile movie has become a time for the creators to reflect. GOAT is the highest-grossing tamil film of 2024 and has managed to join the Rs 300 crore club at the global box office, despite facing mixed reviews and a double fall on friday (42.5%) and monday (58.5%).
This demonstrates Vijay's power at the box office, and fans are shocked that he is leaving the movie industry at the height of his success. Since Vijay intends to give up acting to pursue a career in politics, it is well known that GOAT was his penultimate role as an actor.
