Infosys CEO Salil Parekh Assures 2022 Freshers Batch, New Dates Set
Infosys CEO Salil Parekh has reassured that all offers made to fresh graduates will be honored, despite some delays in onboarding. The company has reportedly postponed the joining dates for 2,000 engineering graduates from the 2022 batch, but Parekh emphadata-sized that these delays are only in dates and that every offer will be fulfilled.
The IT giant, based in Bengaluru, has an employee base of 315,000 as of june 2024. Parekh's comments come in response to concerns raised by the Nascent Information technology Employees Senate (NITES), which filed a complaint with the Ministry of Labour and Employment. NITES highlighted issues including delays, unpaid pre-training programs, and additional assessments affecting the onboarding of these graduates.
Infosys had earlier projected hiring 15,000 to 20,000 freshers depending on the year's growth. The company's latest financial report showed a 7% increase in consolidated net profit, reaching ₹6,368 crore, and a revised revenue growth forecast of 3-4% for the fiscal year.
Despite these positive financial results, Infosys' headcount has decreased by about 6% from the previous year, with a current total of 315,332 employees. The company's utilization rate has increased to 83.9% from 78.9% year-on-year. CFO Jayesh Sanghrajka noted that while the company has limited headroom, they are prepared to hire additional freshers based on future growth.
