"CISF IG Appointed for RG Kar Security as Doctors Continue Strike and CBI Probes Deepen"
The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) Inspector General, Shikhar Sahay, has been designated as the nodal officer for security at RG Kar Medical college and Hospital. Despite this, doctors nationwide remain on indefinite strike over the alleged rape and murder of a trainee doctor at the kolkata hospital. They have announced they will maintain their strike until the supreme court delivers its verdict on thursday and are holding a protest march from RG Kar to Sashthya Bhawan.
Former RG Kar principal Sandip Ghosh was questioned by the cbi on Wednesday, with the agency noting inconsistencies in his responses. Ghosh now data-faces additional allegations from former Deputy Superintendent Akhtar Ali, including bribery, biomedical waste trafficking, and student extortion.
The polygraph test for Sanjoy Roy, the primary suspect in the case, is stalled as he has yet to consent and no lawyer has agreed to represent him. A legal aid lawyer has been appointed in his stead. TMC leader Kunal Ghosh criticized the striking doctors, noting that the supreme court has asked them to return to work, as the investigation is under the CBI's purview and the situation is causing widespread disruption.
