When a shipment of meat, estimated to weigh three tonnes and packed into 150 cartons, arrived at the Bengaluru City railway station on friday night via train from Jaipur, tensions were high, according to railway sources.

Cow vigilante Puneeth Kerehalli, who was previously imprisoned on a murder allegation, insisted that it was dog meat. Abdul Razzaq, the meat vendor who had placed the order, refuted the accusation.

He maintained that the cargo was lawfully ordered and that the meat within was sheep, not dog.

"We can prove it with legal paperwork. The animal's tail is visible after it was killed. It's sheep, not dogs," the meat vendor declared.

He said that Kerehalli was making up accusations in order to gain financial gain.

Many people congregated there as a result of the disturbance, and when they saw the circumstances, police arrived.

An inquiry has been opened by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of india (FSSAI) into a meat cargo that appeared suspicious and landed at the Bengaluru railway station on Friday. Authorities became concerned when they discovered that the meat might not have come from the original animal.

A report regarding the strange meat shipment had already been received by the officers of the food authority. Officers from the FSSAI were sent to the train station to gather samples for analysis.

Unverified reports have suggested that the meat could be dog meat, but no formal confirmation has been made.
