Electricity tariff increase in tamil Nadu..!?
The tamil Nadu electricity Regulatory Commission (TNERC) has revised the electricity tariff under various sections of the state, tamil Nadu electricity Board (TANGEDCO) said in a press release. The press release stated that the move was taken to cover financial losses incurred in previous years. As a result, electricity bills are expected to increase for people in tamil Nadu. In Tamilnadu, electricity charges have been increased for domestic use, apartments, small businesses, and IT companies. A notification to this effect has also been issued by the tamil Nadu electricity Regulatory Commission. There has been an increase of around 4.83 percent in electricity charges. Accordingly, the fee for household consumption has been increased from 20 paise to 55 paise.
According to the revised tariffs, the electricity tariff for households has been increased by Rs.5 to Rs.40 for various categories. Each house is divided according to how many units of electricity are used. These charges may vary accordingly. Out of this, the 63 lakh household electricity consumers using up to 200 units for two months will have a maximum of Rs 5 extra per month. 4.60 per unit earlier, now per unit is Rs. 4.80 has been raised. Up to 100 units of free electricity for all household consumers and subsidies for textiles, agriculture, places of worship, etc. will not be affected by this increase in electricity tariffs, it is said. The new tariff will be a maximum of Rs 15 per month for 35 lakh domestic users using up to 300 units for two months. It has been informed that the electricity charges for consumers using 400 units and 500 units for two months will be Rs.25 and Rs.40 per month. electricity tariff for industries using low and high voltage electricity has increased by 35 paise per unit. Opposition parties including Patali Makkal Katchi and Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam are protesting the fare hike.
