Trump says he felt bullet rip through his ear after attacker opened fire at rally
At the convention, trump is expected to be formally announced as the Republican Party's presidential nominee. The event starts on Monday, and he also intends to unveil his choice for vice president at that time. Following the incident, the campaign claims that trump is "doing well" and is "grateful to law enforcement and first responders".
"I knew immediately that something was wrong in that I heard a whizzing sound, shots, and immediately felt the bullet ripping through the skin." the former president posted on his Truth Social account.
"Much bleeding took place, so I realized then what was happening."
"Most importantly, I want to extend my condolences to the family of the person at the rally who was killed, and also to the family of another person that was badly injured," he says in the post.
"It is incredible that such an act can take place in our country. Nothing is known at this time about the shooter, who is now dead," he adds.
He ends the post with, "GOD BLESS AMERICA!"
