Hyderabad - Potholes, stagnant water on routes of Bibi ka Alam procession draw criticism

SIBY JEYYA
As Ashura, the tenth day of Muharram, draws near, the Bibi Ka Alam procession path in the Old City is beset with an unsettling sight: potholes, rubbish, strewn debris, overflowing sewage drains, and water leaks. Unfinished construction in Hyderabad's Old City ahead of Muharram exposes the telangana government's worrisome disregard, which has angered the populace.

The path from Bibi Ka Alawa to charminar has several spots where the water is sluggish and filthy. Amjedullah Khan, the leader of MBT and its spokesperson emphadata-sized that not much has been done in response to previous requests for inspections and improvements to the ghmc and HMWSSB. He charged that the administration was being careless since Muharram's preparations were neglected in favor of Bonalu's plans.

Particularly in the vicinity of Yakutmahal Talkies and ganga Nagar, areas such as the road from Dabeerpura road-over-bridge to Shaik Faiz Kaman and on to Etebar Chowk were severely damaged, with many potholes and drainage problems creating risks.

Severe traffic congestion was recorded from Dabeerpura ROB to Bada Bazar, Purani Haweli Chowrasta to Salar Jung bridge, internal roads of Darulshifa, and Noor Khan Bazar as devotees converged from all across india to pay tribute at Bibi Ka Alawa and attend Majlis.

Congestion was made worse by the lack of traffic cops, underscoring the critical requirement for their presence to efficiently control traffic.
