Telangana HC unhappy with authorities’ steps against stray dog menace
The court ordered the submission of a report by municipal, revenue, and veterinary authorities explaining the actions they have done to manage the stray dog population and stop these kinds of assaults within a week. Chief Justice Alok Aradhe and Justice J Anil Kumar, who make up the bench, stressed how serious the issue is and how quickly the government must respond.
The court criticised the state government for its insufficient attempts to stop similar tragedies and voiced serious worry over the state's recurrent cases of stray dogs attacking youngsters.
A similar terrible tragedy occurred on february 19, 2023, in Yerukkala Basthi, Bagh Amberpet, Hyderabad, where another youngster lost his life as a result of a stray dog attack. This latest incidence in patancheru involves a 6-year-old boy who was mauled to death by a pack of stray dogs.
Regarding the Yerukkala Basthi incident, the high court had already acted suo motu and connected it to a pending PIL. The bench postponed the decision until July 10 and ordered the veterinary, revenue, and municipal officials to provide a status report on the steps taken to address the problem of stray dogs and avoid such situations in the future.
