Kalki 2898 AD Collections DECLINE in AP and Telangana

In contrast to the box office statistics circulating in the media, a prominent exhibitor who is now a distributor claims that the two telugu states are seeing a decline in sales for the highly anticipated kalki 2898 AD. "With a large cast that included Prabhas, Deepika, Amitabh, and Kamal Hassan, as well as several performances in one theatre, it went well on opening day."

But its momentum is ebbing. It only indicated limited collections on the second day. Out of the Rs 95 crore in total gross revenues that have been reported, it made Rs 55 crore in two days, he says. "Many theatres in Rajahmundry, Vizag, Kurnool, Nizamabad, and other major centres are having tough time in drawing big crowds," he continues.

He asserts that Prabhas' ability to draw large crowds is put to the test once more and that the box office numbers that are thrown about are a combination of gross receipts (40 to 45% must be subtracted) and GST (18% added), among other factors. "To recoup their expenditures, some distributors are courting audiences with large numbers. In reality, without gross receipts and GST, the distributor share has remained stagnant at about Rs. 55 crore for the past two days. It has slightly harmed Prabhas's ability to draw large crowds, he says.
