Amaravati Back as Capital of AP ?

SIBY JEYYA
On Tuesday, june 4, the telugu desam party (TDP), which is expected to defeat the current YSRC in the state elections of andhra pradesh, pledged to bring back amaravati as the capital city. The previous administration had abandoned this idea.

The election commission statistics as of 8.30 pm showed the tdp ahead in 32 more seats and gaining 102 seats in the 175-member parliament, signifying a landslide victory.

It is undeniable that amaravati is the capital of Andhra Pradesh. Senior tdp leader Kanakamedala Ravindrakumar told PTI, "It will be developed."

The location of the capital has been a source of disagreement since the 2014 split of Andhra Pradesh. The andhra pradesh Reorganisation Act designated hyderabad as the shared capital of telangana and andhra pradesh till june 2, 2024.

Legal obstacles arose around YSRC head and departing chief minister Jaganmohan Reddy's proposal to create three state capitals, substituting Amaravati.

Ravindrakumar charged that N chandrababu naidu of the tdp and other projects were being held up by the YSRC administration, including the development of Amaravati.

He further claimed that the YSRC had violated human rights. The election outcomes imply that the TDP's development plan has received significant support.
