Why Big-Stake Films Getting Announced And Called Off?

G GOWTHAM
In a startling turn of events, some producers are launching high-stakes films just to cancel them. This is not the first time it has happened, but it is the third time in a row. What is occurring in tollywood right now is something that moviegoers are fascinated about.

The film of a major star was launched on a high note, but subsequently was called off due to the budget being about ₹70+ crores, whereas the hero's market is approximately ₹35+ crores for a hit picture, including non-theatrical rights and theatrical sales.

At the same time, another film about a rising Tier-2 hero with little competition in that level, which was announced but cancelled owing to financial constraints, raised eyebrows. Even though other producers are taking up this project, the departure of a major producer must indicate that something is going on within.

Certain argue that these producers are announcing certain films just to keep OTT individuals involved with back-to-back conversations, and that once the deals for their current movie are completed, the producers brutally abandon the ones they announced previously.  Most big-budget films appear to be little more than bait for selling theatrical rights to other pictures in hand.
