With only one day remaining till hyderabad is designated as the shared capital of telangana and andhra pradesh under the andhra pradesh Reorganisation Act, leaders from the residuary state are renewing their call to keep hyderabad as the capital.

"All political parties in andhra pradesh should immediately raise the issue of extending hyderabad as the common capital of telangana and andhra pradesh for another ten years," former cbi Joint director VV lakshmi Narayana said on X.

However, his demand was met with criticism on various social media channels. "Dear sir, it could be impractical as well. It is high time that andhra pradesh built its own capital. "2014 is ten years ago," Shachindra Rajavaram, an X user, explained.

"It is immature to do that; let us build our own capital," Phani Gosala, another user, said.

Across party lines, politicians have demanded that hyderabad remain the shared capital of both states. Kolanukonda Shivaji, vice president of the andhra pradesh Congress, has also asked that hyderabad remain the common capital for another ten years.

According to sources, he stated in a statement on May 23 that because the parties in power in andhra pradesh had failed to establish a decent capital in the previous decade, Hyderabad's position as the joint capital of the two states should be prolonged for another ten years.

On february 16, former tirumala tirupati Devasthanams Chairman yv subba reddy allegedly sought an extension of Hyderabad's position as the joint capital of andhra pradesh and telangana till the former's executive capital relocates from amaravati to Visakhapatnam.
