Air India Express cabin crew go on mass sick leave - 78 Flights Cancelled

Major service disruptions occurred on air india Express as 78 flights were cancelled and several others had delays due to cabin crew members taking mass "sick leave" in protest of the airline's ongoing restructuring. The proposed merger of AIX Connect, formerly known as AirAsia India, with air india Express, a low-cost airline, was approved by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) in 2023.

Senior staff members, including the cabin crew, are reportedly not thrilled with the changes. "Last night (Tuesday), some of our cabin crew suddenly reported unwell, which caused delays and cancellations on our flights. The airline spokeswoman stated, "Our teams are actively addressing this issue to minimise any inconvenience caused to our guests as a result, while we are engaging with the crew to understand the reasons behind these occurrences."

"We would like to express our heartfelt regret to our visitors for this unplanned interruption and to clarify that the quality of service we want to deliver is not reflected in this circumstance. Cancellations will result in a full refund or a free reschedule to a different date for affected guests. Before leaving for the airport, guests travelling with us today are asked to find out if their flight is impacted, the representative stated.
