The practice of re-releasing special films on occasions such as an actor's birthday, the anniversary of the film, etc. has become more widespread in recent years. A few weeks ago, Vijay's superhit Ghilli was re-released and celebrated with great fanfare all over India. In a related vein, Vijay's own Villu is scheduled to return to theatres.

Announcing on X, Villu producer and distributor karan Ayngaran wrote, “Get ready, Vijay fans! We have an exciting announcement that is sure to get your hearts racing!” Further, he added that Villu is slated for a re-release in theatres on 21st june 2024 on the eve of Thalapathy Vijay’s 50th birthday. “This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to witness the magic of our one and only Vijay on the big screen,” he wrote.

Upon receiving the news, several fans voiced their disappointment as opposed to the anticipated joyous responses. "Vettaikaran, Thuppaki, Madurai, Tirupachi release these kind of movies," a user said. Villu doesn't need to be rereleased.
The primary actors in the Tamil-language action drama Villu are Thalapathy Vijay and Nayanthara. Starring bobby deol in the lead role, the movie is a remake of the bollywood classic Soldier. Under the production name of Ayngaran International, karan Ayngaran produced the tamil version, which was directed by Prabhu Deva. Rock musician devi sri prasad composed the movie's soundtrack.
