Musharraf ali Faruqui, managing director of telangana state southern power distribution company limited (TSSPDCL), revealed a startling increase in GHMC's power use. On Friday, May 3, the greatest consumption of 89.71 million units was recorded, indicating a noteworthy 53.77% rise over May 3, 2023.

Faruqui also emphasised Under the GHMC's restrictions, april 30 had the greatest demand of 4,214 MW, suggesting that there may be more increases in demand for power over the summer. The data show that there has been a constant rising trajectory in power use, so this spike is not an unusual incidence. ghmc limits showed a consumption of 79.48 million units in march 2024, a notable rise above the 67.97 million units reported in march 2023.
March 2024 had an average consumption of 70.96 units, a significant increase of 22.7% over the same month the year before. A review conference was held with important authorities, such as the chief general manager, superintending engineers, and divisional engineers, to guarantee the smooth distribution of electricity.

TSSPDCL has reportedly taken the required action to handle the soaring demand. They deployed extra staff for operational responsibilities and allocated one engineer every 11 KV on a rotating basis. Across many offices, some 300 engineers have been assigned operating duties.

Additionally, tsspdcl has built 4,353 more distribution transformers and made another 250 transformers available at field-level offices in order to protect the electrical distribution network.
