CBSE Important Notice..!! Change in Exam Pattern..!?
The Central Board of Secondary education has announced that it has changed the examination format for classes 11 and 12 from the academic year 2024-25. The Central Board of Secondary education (CBSE) has made major changes in the examination pattern for classes 11 and 12. CBSE has announced that aptitude-based questions will be introduced in class 11 and 12 examinations from the academic year 2024-25. In line with the objectives of the New National education Policy (NEP) 2020, questions will be placed on the application of knowledge based on concepts in real-life situations. It is said that this will focus on developing the thinking skills of the students.
There is no change in the examination pattern for classes 9 and 10. CBSE has clarified that while there will be significant changes for classes 11 and 12, there will be no change in the exam pattern for classes 9 and 10. At the same time maintaining consistency across different grade levels. This means that from this year onwards, the percentage of skill-based questions like syllabus-based questions and integrated one-question questions will be increased from 40 to 50 percent in the examinations for classes 11 and 12. On the other hand, the percentage of short and long questions has been reduced from 40 to 30 percent, CBSE said.
Regarding this, CBSE director of education Joseph Emmanuel confirmed, "This change is a major move by the CBSE Board to implement Competency-Based education (CBE) in schools to bring data-alignment based on the objectives of the new National education Policy 2020." He further said that the main thrust of the CBSE Board was to create a learning-oriented educational environment focused on developing creative, critical, and systemic thinking skills in students to meet the challenges of the 21st century.
Emmanuel reiterated CBSE's commitment to data-align assessment and evaluation practices with the new National education Policy 2020. He said that by revising the exam structure, CBSE aims to develop the analytical skills of students and prepare them for the challenges of the 21st century.
