On Tuesday, district collectors and Chief Secretary Santhi Kumari held a video conference to evaluate the state of the drinking water in Telangana's several districts. To handle potential shortages, the Chief Secretary notified authorities during the meeting that emergency reservoir pumping would begin after the second week of April.

There was a significant demand for water because of commercial activity, but officials from the hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board maintained that hyderabad had an adequate supply.

The Chief Secretary reaffirmed that the state's primary reservoirs had sufficient water reserves for the whole year, stressing that there were no urgent worries about drinking water during the summer.

She emphasised the use of the "Summer Action Plan," which has monies already assigned to districts, to address problems with drinking water. She asked collectors to guarantee a steady supply of water and to quickly correct management mistakes.

Collectors were directed to check the drinking water supply in villages and towns by holding daily teleconferences with field-level and nodal authorities.

It was recommended that extra care be taken to finish all summer action plan tasks on schedule, with an emphasis on efficient operation and maintenance to avert water shortages.

The Chief Secretary advised taking preventative action to lessen possible problems and issued a warning against the serious drinking water problems that certain states are experiencing.
