5-storey under-construction building collapses...

In the kolkata neighborhood of Garden Reach, a portion of a five-story under-construction structure collapsed on top of a nearby slum on monday at 12:10 in the morning, according to the police. Ten slum residents who were hurt were pulled out and taken to the hospital. On condition of anonymity, a member of the state disaster management team at the scene stated, "Rescue operations are underway." Although there was no official confirmation until 6.40 am, locals reported that 15 people had been injured and that two of the injured slum dwellers had died. "There is a problem with darkness and the space needed to deploy cranes," a fire services official said, requesting anonymity. Around 1.40 am, Vineet Goyal, the commissioner of police in kolkata, hurried to the scene but avoided speaking with the reporters.

Before the media, locals claimed that the damaged building was being built illegally since KMC regulations forbade the construction of five-story buildings on small roads. They said that the lane that leads to the construction site is only three feet wide. According to the slum residents, work on the project began about two years ago. The locals, most of whom are Muslims, indicated a few nearby structures that were comparable to one another.

The trinamool congress government was the target of the bharatiya janata party (BJP) as the lok sabha elections approached. "An illegally built five-story building at Hazari Mollah Bagan, Garden Reach, Metiabruz, KMC Ward No. 134, has collapsed." The 'citadel' of the Honorable kolkata Mayor and minister of Municipal Affairs is this specific place. Suvendu Adhikari, the leader of the opposition in the state legislative assembly, commented on Xat roughly 1:20 am, saying, "I urge @chief_west, Secretary @HomeBengal, @CPKolkata to immediately involve West bengal State Disaster Management Team for immediate rescue & relief." Until 2:30 am, no government representative was available for comment. Garden Reach was the name of the constituency until the Left Front government was overthrown by the TMC in the 2011 assembly elections.
