BCCI has increased the salary!? How much for Virat & Rohit..?
It is now reported that the salaries of indian Test cricketers are going to increase. This decision is to encourage Test cricket players. After the end of IPL 2024, it has been reported that the salary of the indian team's Test players will increase. bcci is also planning to pay an additional bonus salary to players who play all the Test matches in a series. Complaints came to the bcci that some indian team players skipped the Ranji Trophy to avoid injury to play IPL matches. Due to this, it is said that the indian cricket Board may have taken this decision. The likes of ishan kishan and shreyas iyer, who have been key players in the indian team, are skipping the Ranji Trophy. ishan kishan has not played in ranchi matches for his home team jharkhand despite the bcci order. Instead, he was training for the t20 match with hardik Pandya. An injured shreyas iyer also avoided the Ranji matches. shreyas iyer is now set to play for mumbai in the Ranji Trophy semi-final after a lot of pressure.
Ishan Kishan had announced his withdrawal from the south africa tour in december last year. He claimed that he needed mental rest due to playing in the world cup series. But later it was reported that ishaan withdrew from the series as he was benched without being included in the team. After this series, his name did not feature in the afghanistan and england series. Currently, indian players are getting Rs 15 lakh as match salary for each Test match. The salaries of indian cricketers were doubled in 2016. And each player is paid Rs 6 lakh for ODI and Rs 3 lakh for T20. Apart from these per-match fees, some players are also on BCCI's annual contract. They are paid according to grade.
As the bcci is set to pay extra salaries to Test players, captain rohit sharma has sent out an important message to players who are avoiding Test cricket. Speaking after the 4th Test win against england, Rohit said, "We will give priority to players who are hungry to play, players who want to prove themselves here, and those who play in tough conditions. Those who value the Test series will be given a chance." india has won the series against england by 3-1. The last and 5th Test starts in March.
