Anushka's Blockbuster Director Delivers Washout
After a stellar 2023, bollywood is once more in a funk in 2024. Fighter, the first major movie of the year featuring hrithik roshan and deepika Padukone, failed to live up to the hype and was only a mediocre success at the box office. Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljhaa starring kriti sanon and shahid kapoor While Jiya's business performance is better than expected, it is still nothing to be proud of. Kuch Khattaa Ho Jaay, the debut film starring famous singer Guru Randhawa, was released this week.
In a matter of days, Guru Randhawa's YouTube songs receive hundreds of millions of views. The anticipated trade film Guru is expected to be highly received in theatres as well. However, the box office is a whole different animal. With a day-one box office collection that barely scrapes the bottom at 25 lakhs, the picture has been completely disregarded by the public, making it one of the poorest day-one performances in recent times.
It's interesting to note that ashok G, who helmed the successful 2018 film Bhaagamathie, is directing this one. He relocated to bollywood amid the COVID-19 pandemic and seemed to have entirely lost his spark. His most recent movie was a complete flop.
