The challenges facing theatres in the current landscape are evident, and despite various attempts to attract audiences, the results are not favorable. With the looming threat of dwindling finances, stakeholders in the film industry are implementing strategies such as reducing ticket prices to encourage more people to attend theatres. However, the impact of OTT platforms is undeniable, with audiences increasingly opting for the convenience of streaming services over traditional cinema experiences.

Efforts by heroes, producers, and directors to enhance the cinematic experience and bring audiences back to theatres are met with challenges. The OTT effect has influenced the decision-making process for viewers, with the allure of enjoying a movie at home with family becoming a significant factor. Additionally, the rise of piracy, with HD pre-releases available on certain websites six weeks before the official theatre release, further contributes to the shifting dynamics.

The decision to close these theatres was prompted by financial losses, indicating a substantial shift in consumer preferences.

Key movies released during festive seasons like "Guntur Karam," "Saindhav," and "Na Samiranga" data-faced discussions within families about the choice between going to the theatre or waiting for the movies to be available on OTT platforms. The prevalent sentiment questions the need to rush to theatres when movies eventually find their way to OTT platforms.

As the analyst suggests, this shift in audience interest is a widespread phenomenon in the telugu states, prompting a re evaluation of the traditional cinema-viewing experience versus the convenience and accessibility offered by OTT platforms.
