13 schools get bomb threat, causing panic in Chennai...

Parents hurried to the schools to retrieve their children in response to the tragedy. According to the police, at least 13 private schools in chennai got an email with a bomb threat on Thursday. The emails were allegedly received in schools close to the Greater chennai police (GCP) boundaries, according to the Police. It further stated that once Bomb Detection and Disposal Squads (BDDS) were sent out, it was discovered that the threat was untrue.

The chennai police claimed in a statement that "today (08.02.2024) at 10:00 hrs., an unknown person sent a bomb threat mail to 13 private schools operating in GCP limits informing that a powerful bomb had been placed and to take steps to send out the children from the schools."

According to the authorities, searches were carried out by a number of local police teams, the BDDS squad, sniffer dogs, and other units.

According to the police, "searches revealed that no bomb was found and that the email threat is said to be a hoax." "An investigation is underway to apprehend the sender of the aforementioned hoax email, and a case has been filed with the Greater chennai police, Cyber Crime wing in relation to the threat."

"The administration, instructors, and students of the schools within the Greater chennai police limits are kindly asked not to panic and disturb the regular operation of the school and to notify the police promptly through 100/112 calls if any such threatening emails, calls, or letters are received in the future.
