National girl Child Day: Why is it celebrated on Jan 24?

India celebrates National girl Child Day on january 24 each year as a way to raise awareness of the injustices data-faced by girls and women in society. The nation's Ministry of women and Child Development established the day back in 2008. Since then, a yearly theme has been used to mark the day all across India. The government of india started Save the girl Child, an awareness campaign that primarily targeted the states of Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, Bihar, and Delhi. The day is typically marked by organized programs and events.

Why is january 24th the day it is observed?

Every year on january 24, National girl Child Day is observed to commemorate the launch of the Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao (BBBP) Program.

Prime minister Narendra Modi introduced the Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao (BBBP) program on january 22, 2015. The Ministry of women and Child Development, the Ministry of health and Family Welfare, and the Ministry of education are running this national effort together with the goal of addressing the issue of the dropping child sex ratio image (CSR).

The Ministry of women and Child Development held this event as a janbhagidari (participated by all) last year as part of the festival. From january 18 to january 24, states, union territories, and districts were asked to plan events that would highlight the value of the girl child.

2024's National girl Child Day: Reasons for commemorating this day

There are three primary goals for India's annual National girl Child Day celebrations. Its goals are to: (1) draw attention to the disparities that girls in the nation must contend with; (2) advance understanding of a girl's rights; and (3) raise awareness of the value of a girl's education, health, and nutrition.
