The Centre for Policy Research (CPR), a major public policy research institute in New Delhi, had its Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Amendment Act, 2020 (FCRA registration) withdrawn on wednesday by the Ministry of home Affairs (MHA). yamini Aiyar, the daughter of congress politician mani shankar Aiyar, leads the Centre for Policy Research, a think organisation. According to authorities, the registration was cancelled when it was discovered that the institution had violated FCRA laws.

The think group was already under official inspection and had previously completed an income tax survey. In september 2022, the Income Tax Department undertook a'survey' operation against CPR and two other groups - Oxfam india and a Bengaluru-based Independent and Public-Spirited media Foundation (IPSMF) - as part of an investigation into their foreign donations.

Last year, the authorities suspended CPR's FCRA licence for 180 days. Later, the suspension was extended for an additional 180 days. Since 1973, CPR has been a major policy think tank that undertakes sophisticated and in-depth research on a wide variety of policy-relevant problems, with a particular emphasis on India's 21st-century challenges.India's Ministry of home Affairs suspended the FCRA registration of the Centre for Policy Research (CPR) in New Delhi, alleging suspected irregularities.
