There has been concern continuously raising with the flight delays and cancellation at the last moment. In response to recent challenges associated with flight delays and cancellations, particularly exacerbated by fog-related disruptions in Delhi, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has introduced new guidelines. These guidelines are designed to mitigate conflicts between airlines and passengers by underscoring the significance of timely communication and the provision of clear information. Notably, airlines are now mandated to promptly inform passengers about their flight details, particularly in instances where delays exceeding three hours are anticipated due to adverse weather conditions. The guidelines also advocate for the early cancellation of flights under such circumstances. Furthermore, airlines are directed to ensure accurate information regarding flight delays is prominently displayed on their official websites and communicated through various channels such as message rooms, WhatsApp, and email.
Passengers at airports should be furnished with precise and timely updates on flight delays, with accessible staff to guide and maintain consistent communication. The overarching objective of these guidelines is to avert airport congestion and minimize passenger inconvenience during instances of flight disruptions. Immediate compliance with these rules is expected from all airlines, as per the directive from the DGCA.
