Nihang Sikh killed a man at a punjabi Gurdwara...?

According to Gurpreet Singh, the Phagwara Superintendent of police, a Nihang Sikh killed a young person in a gurudwara in Phagwara, punjab, according to news agency ANI. Singh added that the Nihang Sikh killed the young person on the grounds that they were suspected of sacrilege. Senior police officers were present at the scene, and the case is still being looked into.  "A Nihang Sikh killed him because he believed the youth of Gurudwara Shri Choura Khooh Sahib had committed sacrilege. Senior law enforcement personnel are present. Further investigation is underway," Singh said, referring to ANI. Recent incidences of sacrilege—the act of violating or disrespecting something that is considered sacred or holy—have been reported in the state of Punjab.

A sacrilegious incident occurred in Morinda last year when a guy was observed breaking into the gurdwara's inner chamber, striking the granthis (priests), and desecrating the Guru Granth Sahib. Jathedar of Shri Akal Takht Sahib Giani Harpreet Singh has voiced his alarm over these occurrences and stated that sacrilege instances are happening in punjab on a regular basis, which is concerning. Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, the deputy chief minister of punjab at the time, wrote to the Center in 2021 in an attempt to get presidential assent for two bills passed by the state assembly in 2018 regarding punishment for desecration incidents. This came after the state reported two cases in which men were beaten to death over alleged sacrilege bids.
