Censor Board Killed Box Office Success of OMG 2 Movie
As previously said, despite facing a massive storm like Gadar 2, OMG 2 was able to earn Rs 150 crore net in India. Gadar 2 set an all-time record by collecting 525 crore net. director amit Rai addressed the controversy, stating that his film had garnered rave reviews and would have performed similarly to Gadar 2 if the censor board had issued a U/A certificate.
According to the director, the Censor team made several modifications to the picture and awarded OMG 2 an A certificate, which destroyed the film since family audiences were unable to view it and more than half of the income was gone.
"I believe the year established a record for footfalls in hindi film. And I believe that if my picture did not have the A-certificate, this record would have been considerably higher. I'm not sure how much this film could have done. Perhaps if it hadn't been an A-certificate film, it could have competed with Gadar 2 at the box office, earning income by bringing families to the theatres. When the censor board granted it an A-rating, half of my family's audience died. The censor board also affected me monetarily and in terms of substance. However, they are bygone days," stated amit Rai.
OMG 2 was positively welcomed by audiences upon its theatrical premiere. Definitely, as the director stated, the A certificate had a significant influence on the audience. OMG 2 also had a warm reaction at the OTT stage. The film focuses on sex education for young people by emphasising the widespread misconceptions among pupils. akshay kumar plays Lord Shiva's messenger, pankaj tripathi a follower of lord shiva named Kanti sharan Mudgal, and yami gautam a lawyer.
